Mt. Si Trailhead Hike

I hiked Mt. Si Trailhead Monday. It’s roughly an 8 mile journey up and back down the mountain. I’d heard it was a challenging hike, but did not expect it to be as difficult as it was. It was extremely rocky and littered with massive old growth trees. I can understand how easily people could get disoriented within heavily wooded areas. I hiked 3 miles up the mountain solo and turned back. Low water and losing light. Descending the mountain was harder than the ascent for me. I fell twice and encountered a snake on the way down. Yikes! I logged 6 miles and walked away with priceless knowledge for the next time. Water! Lots of water! And perhaps a safety partner! As with most things, preparation is the key to success. Mi Si is more like a climb, than a hike. -R
